Just wanted to put this down in an email to underline the real basics of weight/fat loss and building muscle and what i do to keep myself in shape. Think of this as kind of the gospel according to BigT personal trainer Bethnal Green.

So the real bottom line basics of fat loss and looking lean and fit are:
Think in reverse when it comes to breakfast.
We are not designed for breakfast cereals, coco pops, toast or pop tarts or any other thing companies can imagine up for us to eat. Don’t eat them simple! you have to eat a high protein low carb meal. Eggs, meat, fish, nuts and green leafy salad or veg. If you can’t do this you will struggle. Your body doesn’t know it’s breakfast, it just knows its hungry!
All meals must be made up of high protein low carb.
Everything you eat, every meal has to be made up of one of these: meat, fish, dairy protein, nuts and vegetables or salads. I don’t mind how you mix it up but that’s how it’s got to be. Clients looking to build muscle, you should be eating protein every 2 hours no excuses just keep eating.

Eat every couple of hours. Little and often if possible.

It keeps your metabolism fast and efficient.

Eat clean at least 5 or 6 days a week.
You have to do it. You can’t get that body eating and drinking what you want or treating yourself. Diet = Discipline.
Cheat days are there for cheating, use and abuse your cheat day.
Fruit is not your friend and your not being “really good and healthy” eating it.
Fruit has the highest level of sugars in the food groups outside of refined sugar products i.e chocolate etc. Tropical fruits have the highest sugar content of the fruit food group. Yes they do have some vitamin and mineral content but not as much as vegetables and vegetables have a fraction of the sugars.
Example:
Vitamin C in an orange – Over 1000 times more in 1 bell pepper. A bell pepper has 1900mgs of Vitamin C
Train bloody hard and often – That’s why your with me.
Your body is designed for it and is more than capable of handling it. Don’t under estimate what your body is capable of – its a machine. Tired? push through it and get on with it. Go for those sprints and go lift those weights. Every person who gets lean and muscular, loses weight and achieves works when the next person wont. Guy’s looking to build muscle? Every time you train you must be testing your body and muscles.
High volume + High Intensity = Muscle adaption.

Only way to know your heading in the right direction and eating the right foods and in the correct amounts is to check them off on a daily basis. I use it daily and it will help you immensely, it will even guilt trip you into constantly eating clean. You can’t work out your calorie intake in your head or roughly guess – it has to be precise and consistent.
